After months of hard work and preparation behind the scenes, aether opened its doors to the public on November 4. We were thrilled to finally be able to share the space with our guests, and even more thrilled when the 5-star reviews started to come in. Among these passenger reviews were several high-profile pieces in the national press. We round up our favourite coverage here.

“The hushed calm of aether is nothing short of priceless”

Cathy Adams in The Times

Cathy Adams, The Times’ Senior Commissiong Editor for Travel, hailed aether as the “disruption” that the travel industry has been crying out for. As a frequent traveller, she was particularly attracted to an experience that avoids “serpentine security queues.” In detailing her visit, she called out the “gobsmacking view over the runway” as well as the dining experience and premium drinks, including Champagne. She also wrote that being chauffeured across the runway to her gate in a private BMW made her feel “like a million dollars”.

Cathy was particularly drawn to the idea that “aether is available to everyone, even those on budget airlines”, with the private jet experience now available to all. In comparing aether to other premium airport experiences, she concluded “If a smooth airport experience and lounge access is crucial to a happy holiday, aether compares favourably with a business-class ticket.” In summing up her aether experience, Cathy stated: “for two hours, airports felt like they could be enjoyable again.”

“An oasis of peacefulness and calm”

Richard Moriarty in The Sun

Richard Moriarity from The Sun called aether “an oasis of peacefulness and calm,” again underlining the maximum number of guests who’ll be in the terminal at any time: “during the three hours I spent in the terminal, the attentive staff outnumber the guests.” Like our other reviewers, he was impressed by the Dining Experience and runway views, but also noted that the “luxury concept” of the terminal extended to the bathrooms, with Molton Brown soap and gold taps.

While Richard predicts that aether will appeal to all travellers who want to be “treated like an A-Lister for £90”, he said it would be particularly attractive to couples, business travellers, nervous flyers, elderly travellers or those with mobility issues, as it’s completely step-free and all amenities are located close together.
